NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Broders Pasta Bar ... finally
Back in the day, when I taught pilates for community education courses that took place at Southwest high school, I would often drive to Broder’s Pasta Bar for a quick outdoor happy hour.MORE »
NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Brasa Premium Rotisserie
So many times this restaurant has just been a meeting point established by a friend and not actually the designated dining establishment for the evening. That changed the evening of my birthday when O suggested this as a “new” restaurant that we ought to try.MORE »

Somali cuisine moves to the mainstream
Immigrants from Somalia are now one of the largest ethnic groups in the Twin Cities, but Somali restaurants haven’t gained nearly as much crossover acceptance as Mexican, Vietnamese or even Thai restaurants. For a long time, it's been trying to find the perfect pad thai. Not too sweet, but tangy. Not too spicy, but flavorful. Not too dry, but moist and springy when I chew on it. Pad thai. Is it really that hard?MORE »
