Kinetic Dialectic
Four artists from across the country have been collaborating on designs for public art in the University’s Biomedical Discovery District. The exhibit features artists: Maria Artemis of Atlanta; Ralph Helmick of Newton, Massachusetts; Philip Rickey of Saint Paul; and George Sherwood of Ipswich, Massachusetts.
Käthe Kollwitz: Making Human
This exhibition sheds light on the reasons that made Käthe Kollwitz a controversial artist during her lifetime. Kollwitz’s figures, often drawn from her immediate surroundings of the city streets of Berlin, are shown in contorted and exaggerated postures, emphasizing a fragile, suffering, version of the individual that borders on the grotesque.
Who's Afraid of Edith Carlson
The Edith Carlson Gallery is endowed by the estate of Edith Carlson, a self-described “little farm girl from Minnesota” who went on to become an accomplished artist. She chose the Weisman for the bequest because she admired the museum’s strong holdings in art by women. The new gallery will allow WAM to showcase works on paper, which comprise roughly two-thirds of the museum’s collection.

Figuratively Fiber
