News that the State of Minnesota will receive a net payment of about $35 million from Minnesota HMOs injected added energy to the already loud and enthusiastic crowd who attended Wednesday's Disability Day rally at the capitol. Advocates, persons with disabilities, family members, and support staff filled the first and second floors of the capitol rotunda to declare to legislators, “We are not invisible!” Speakers and signs gave voice to support for the reversal of budget cuts to disability services, for the prevention of further cuts, and opposition to the Voter ID amendment.MORE »
