Screening of new film and reception for Gloria Rolando, Afro-Cuban filmmaker
On Friday, April 23, at 7:15, award-winning Cuban filmmaker Gloria Rolando will screen her new documentary, "1912-Breaking the Silence (Voces para un silencio)" about the silenced history of the 1912 massacre of Afro-Cubans. The showing is at Nicholson Hall, University of Minnesota and is free and open to the public.
Cuban Medical Students Speak about Cuba Today
This event is an opportunity to hear from Cuban medical students. They will speak about Cuba's internationalist mission to bring medical care to remote corners of the earth. With 300 medical personnel in Haiti when the earthquake struck, they were among the first to provide help.

Cuba and the Fight against racism: In reply to an accusation
On Nov. 30 of last year, 60 African American fig-
ures issued an “open letter” charging the Cuban
government with practicing racial discrimination.
The letter was initiated by Carlos Moore, a Cuban
writer and lecturer and long-time opponent of
the Cuban revolution. The issuance of the letter
coincides with increased attacks on Cuba by the
US government.
Healthcare & Public Option: Cuba and the US Health Debate
Movie: Salud, follows the work of Cuban doctors who volunteer in a number of Latin American and African countries. The film is a tribute to Cuba’s longstanding policy of sending doctors to buttress healthcare in poorer countries, more than any other country in the world.
Cuba Travel Challenge Report Back
15 Minnesotans joined Pastors for Peace and the Venceremos Brigade last month to challenge the US ban on travel to Cuba. They will report on and present short videos of their experiences.
