On Friday, April 23, at 7:15, award-winning Cuban filmmaker Gloria Rolando will screen her new documentary, "1912-Breaking the Silence (Voces para un silencio)" about the silenced history of the 1912 massacre of Afro-Cubans. The showing is at Nicholson Hall, University of Minnesota and is free and open to the public.

ures issued an “open letter” charging the Cuban
government with practicing racial discrimination.
The letter was initiated by Carlos Moore, a Cuban
writer and lecturer and long-time opponent of
the Cuban revolution. The issuance of the letter
coincides with increased attacks on Cuba by the
US government.
