Bottineau transit corridor review process underway

Proposals for expanding the transit network around the Twin Cities include the creation of corridors that might include new light rail lines or an option called bus rapid transit, which mimics the look and feel of a rail line at a lower cost. But before anything can be built, funding must be identified, political support solidified, and community members engaged.

Northeast Minneapolis hosts transit summit

The Central Corridor Light Rail system won't carry a passenger until 2014, according to the Metropolitan Council, but construction is slated to begin in 2010, if it gets federal approval. A major hurdle in this process was recently passed with last month's submission of a 4,000 page application. MORE »
