Discovery Toastmasters Club (Oakdale) Weekly Meeting

Event Description: 

Toastmasters is the world’s largest organization devoted to developing communication skills. It now has some 200,000 members in 10,000 Toastmasters clubs in about 80 countries. In the Twin Cities and surrounding metro area, there are over 200 clubs!

Discovery Toastmasters Club meets every Wednesday at the Imation World Headquarters (Discovery) Building in Oakdale. For directions and more information about the club, please visit the club’s website at http://www.orgsites.com/mn/discoverytm. Meetings are open to the general public and there is never a cost to check out a meeting.

If you know ahead of time you would like to visit, please email us at rsvp@discoverytm.freetoasthost.net so we can have a visitor badge ready upon arrival. Due to building security requirements, please bring a photo ID and stop at the front desk. Someone from the club will escort you to the meeting room.

What would you like to tell president-elect Barack Obama? Advise and Dissent features opinions on what the new president should be thinking and doing. This opinion came from Your Turn — Teens advise the next president on what youth need.

Abortion: I believe taking away a woman’s right to abortion is taking away her freedom. There are diverse reasons why abortion is the best option. There may be rape; few people want a reminder of a traumatic event. There may also be financial issues; many women just can’t afford children. Additionally, women with weak emotional states frequently turn to alcohol and drugs and this dependency leads to abuse and/or neglect of her kids … If a woman makes this call, or wants the option to make this call, why do people pass judgment?
