Bedlam Theatre's 10Fest: Adventures in ten-minute theater

In the beginning  of the 10Fest process, Bedlam Theatre offered a weekend of workshops in a theater class-like setting, everyone invited. Then conversations about ten-minute play ideas and proposals were turned in. The co-curators, Molly Van Avery and Miré Regulus, chose the pieces.  A week later there were open auditions; everyone who auditioned got a part. Long live community-grown and -nurtured theater!

Walker on the Green: Garden gnome foosball and other unprecedented obstacles at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

The vision in my mind when I imagined a press preview of Walker on the Green, an artist-design miniature golf course at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, was that of all of the members of the press would stand on the sidelines as onlookers while actual players proficient in the sport of golf competed, offering examples of how each hole was artistically unique and creatively constructed. It didn’t occur to me for even a second that I myself would spend the entire day playing mini-golf, but that’s what happened. Admittedly, I was trying to be provocative when I titled a recent blog post "Does It Matter That No One Gives a Shit About Classical Music Any More?" Even so, I was surprised at the intensity of the response from Tangential readers, many of who were furious with me for dismissing the many people who do care about classical music—and for suggesting that the Minnesota Orchestra, now poised to enter year two of its hiatus due to a labor dispute—is not much missed.

Like when The Daily Meal announced their 2013 list of the 101 Best Restaurants in Asia. The #1 restaurant on the list is Din Tai Fung, a Taiwan-based chain with branches in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, the United States, and Thailand.
