Rachel Dykoski, Writer

Rachel Dykoski (rachel.dykoski@mac.hush.com) is a burgeoning activist, wife, and mother of 2 oh-so-clever girls; she lives to volunteer throughout the region. "I am amazed that sixteen years after graduating with a degree in print media, this is the first time that I've been published in a daily news publication. Thanks, TC Daily Planet!" She has enjoyed freelance writing for community-based and disease-specific newsletters, has consulted on print production for health and wellness consultants and direct marketing companies, and was public affairs director for WRQC-FM. She serves on the Minneapolis Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities; the steering committee for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's myMSmyway.com; and the steering committee for Environmental Justice Advocates of Minnesota (regarding climate justice and green jobs initiatives). She is a DFL affirmative action officer for Senate District 61, a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church's social justice and anti-racism groups, and a board member with the Alliance for Metropolitan Stability. Dykoski received certification in non-profit management from the University of Illinois at Chicago in June 2008 and plans someday to run her own non-profit. Her motto: "You gotta move it or lose it. MS hasn't stopped me—if anything, it has given me my life back." Besides the articles below, Rachel Dykoski has a Daily Planet blog: Rachel Says.

Free Speech Zone

The Free Speech Zone offers a space for contributions from readers, without editing by the TC Daily Planet. This is an open forum for articles that otherwise might not find a place for publication, including news articles, opinion columns, and announcements. The opinions expressed in the Free Speech Zone and Neighborhood Notes, as well as the opinions of bloggers, are their own and not necessarily the opinion of the TC Daily Planet.
