About me

Rachel Reiva is 21 years old. She loves theatre and has participated in the Fringe Festival for about 6 years. She has been the teen blogger in 2007, 2009-2011. In 2008 she wrote, produced, and directed a show that premiered at the Fringe Festival call "Love and Video Games". She is not currently in a Fringe show this year but is happy to blog for the  Fringe again.

A family-friendly vampire in Top Hat Theatre’s "Dracula’s Castle"

This is Top Hat’s eighth year in the Fringe. I was in three of Top Hat’s earlier Fringe productions.  It is a theater that specializes in providing family-friendly shows based on common fairy tales and folklore. Pam and Todd Russell, a wife-and-husband team, take well-known stories, i.e. "Cinderella," "Snow White," but then give them a modern spin.

A pauper connects to Prince to share his story

I was in contact this week with Andrew Fafoutakis about his one-person show Prince and the Pauper which will be appearing at the Gremlin Theatre during the Minnesota Fringe Festival.  Fafoutakis is an equity actor who began the development of this show when he  prepared his MFA performance for his graduate studies at the Louisiana State University.

THEATER | Blank Slate's "Hair": An all-teen cast capture the spirit of the 60s

If there is one show that defines the 60s, it's Hair. It's a musical based on the hippie culture. Generally, one would think that a show with themes of sex, drugs, and war would be performed by adults. Blank Slate Theatre, however, has successfully used an all-teen cast in this production. Not only is this production extremely entertaining, but the teen actors capture the spirit of the decade in some ways more effectively than any adult cast could.

Blank Slate Theatre: Disordered [thy name is teenager]

by Rachel Reiva | 8/23/09 • Disordered [thy name is teenager] On Saturday, August 22nd, I saw a show by a relatively new theatre company called Blank Slate Theatre. Blank Slate Theatre is a company that collaborates with artists’ ages 12 to 18 in producing and performing dramatic works speaking to issues relating to, and impacting, teenagers in America today.
