I head up to the State Capitol in St. Paul every work day where I am employed by the Minnesota House of Representatives. No, I’m not a politician. I work in the nonpartisan House Public Information Services department where I am assistant director and editor. I cover committees and the floor sessions for Session Weekly newsmagazine and our online efforts. My “beat” is taxes and bonding, but what I enjoy most is educating people about the legislative process.

While I love my job at the House, my passion has always been community journalism. My newspaper experience spans over 25 years and includes editing and reporting for the Prior Lake American, the Montevideo American News and Press Publications in White Bear Lake.

I left the newspaper world about seven years ago to work for the Minnesota House of Representative where my position marries quite nicely my interest in public policy and journalism. But community journalism keeps beckoning me. (I do teach one class a semester in the University of Minnesota journalism department).

Now I blog at B-Ville News. People ask me why I blog - it's because telling Burnsville’s stories enriches my life.
