There’s a show that I’m looking forward to seeing that I initially rejected out of hand. Luke Comes to Life is the sincere telling of the Gospel of Luke, by a guy who happens to be a minister.

Exactly why did I think I wouldn’t like this show?

As we enter the final days of the 2010 Fringe Festival (still time to see lots of shows – get out there!!), I have to say that in spite of being sick the ENTIRE time, this was possibly the best Fringe yet. I’ve genuinely liked, if not loved, everything I’ve seen, which makes me wonder whether my choices were too safe, or if across the board the quality of the shows is just that high.

We’ve passed the half-way mark and can I just say what a great Fringe we’re having? Thanks to the staff and all of the fantastic volunteers for making this thing such an incredible experience.

I finally left the house for the 7:00 show. I’d been looking forward to Confessions of a Lazy Hmong Woman presented by May Lee-Yang at the U of M Rarig Xperimental, and I loved it. Supporting actress Phasoua Vang stole the show with her seamless portrayal of over half dozen characters in May Lee-Vang’s life. This show is a sweet little snapshot about growing up Hmong, illustrated by interactions with various family and community members and awesome shadow puppet folk tales. Nice balance of Hmong and English language – really great, all around. Next show Wednesday at 10.
