Karen Hollish

About me

Karen Hollish is a writer, editor and photographer who left Minneapolis for the U.S. Virgin Islands in January 2011.

Despite having escaped winter, she still longs for her home in Northeast Minneapolis, where she volunteered as a kitten foster parent, editor and photographer for Pet Project Resuce.

For the Planet she covered immigrant education, non-motorized transportation and health care, among other topics.

As a 2010 New America Media Ethnic Elders Fellow, she produced a three-part series about the diabetes epidemic facing the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

She was a staff reporter for The Daily Press of Ashland, Wis. from 2006 to 2009. She has her bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
