Poll results are in — Royal Orchid voted Twin Cities' best Thai restaurant

Is the Royal Orchid really the best Thai restaurant in the Twin Cities? The results of our recent poll probably won't put an end to the debates about who makes the best pad Thai and tom yum, but they do indicate which restaurant has the most loyal fan base: the Royal Orchid, 4022 University Ave., Columbia Heights, finished far ahead of the other 19 contenders, with 58 votes - 33 percent of all votes cast. Mango Thai in St. Paul finished second with 15 votes, and Sen Yai Sen Lek in northeast Minneapolis placed third with 11 votes.

  • The Royal Orchid has the best Thai food that I have ever had and you always feel so welcomed. This family run restaurant offers incredible authentic Thai food, friendly atmosphere and the family takes the time to personally inner act with their customers. We travel quite a distance to go to the Royal Orchid and it is always a special treat and more than worth the trip. - by Bev Gebbia on Fri, 05/24/2013 - 10:29pm

  • It is a great experience to go to the ROYAL ORCHID where you are treated royally. Above all Royal Orchid is a first-class authentically Thai restaurant. Pat, the owner is chef, and his twin sons Waroun and Waren greet you by name, remember what you like from their menu, and cheerfully banter with you informally if you want to banter or leave you with your dining partners if you want to be left alone. Go to Royal Orchid for the food -- and leave as a friend of the "royal" Sukhitipya family. - by Paul Nockleby on Sat, 06/08/2013 - 9:08am
