The Karen Burmese New Year began December 19, with memories of refugees still waiting in camps in Thailand. Tradition mixed with anime and manga at the Japanese Shinnenkai celebration in January. February will bring the Vietnamese Tet New Year on the 17th, followed by the February 18th Chinese New Year of the Pig.
