Good energy in Linden Hills

Wondering if you should turn your computer all the way off each evening? Answers to this and other eco-questions will be the focus of the second annual Linden Hills Good Energy Fair on Saturday, October 11.

Calhoun Cycle will be offering bike repair clinics and a workshop on discovering local bike paths and using bicycles for commuting.

Nature and art activities will be offered for kids and there will be a “Folk Jam” from 11:30-1:30 in the recreation center.

According to organizers, about 200 people participated last year and they anticipate higher attendance this year. More than a dozen groups will be participating including Greening Our Schools, the Linden Hills Co-op, Great Harvest Break Co., Minnesota Pollution Control Agency/Living Green 365, the Southwest High School Green Team and more. Organizers say attendees can also anticipate loads of great give-aways.

“A primary goal is to empower people by giving them inspiration and information they can use in their daily lives to help reduce their impact on our earth,” said Deb Pierce, one of the co-founders of local ecoist group Coffee Table Productions, which partnered with Minneapolis Parks and Recreation and Linden Hills in organizing the fair.
