Meet Nawal, the newest member of Corcoran Neighborhood Organization

Corcoran Neighborhood Organization (CNO) is excited to welcome Nawal Osman as Operations Manager, a new position in the office. Nawal previously worked as Operations Manager for CAPI, an organization dedicated to providing support and assistance to African and Asian immigrants.

Nawal has a unique perspective on immigration, having moved from Somalia to Nairobi, and lastly to Minnesota in 1999. She spent middle school and high school in Owatonna, MN, before studying Political and International Relations at Concordia University in St. Paul. Since graduating from Concordia in 2010, she has continued her studies and is working toward a master’s degree in public policy through the University of Minnesota.

When not at work or in class, Nawal enjoys spending time with her niece and nephew and reading. In the future, she hopes to travel around the world to “meet new people and experience many new things.” For now, however, she is content with the excitement of starting work at CNO: “I’m excited for the tasks, meeting people, and sharing my thoughts and ideas.” Nawal’s fresh insights, experiences working with immigrant communities, and fluency in Somali are a great asset to CNO and the organization’s efforts to engage a higher percentage of the Corcoran community.
