Minneapolis: Hauenstein & Burmeister moves on
The Hauenstein & Burmeister building at 2629-30th Avenue S in Seward is sitting empty waiting for a new tenant, a new owner, or potential demolition, according to Jerry Sand, vice president of properties at Kraus-Anderson.
The building was the former home of H&B Elevators, a company that originally began in the 1920s selling weatherstripping for wood storm windows, according to the H&B website. During World War II, H&B began manufacturing doors for airplane hangers. It was this work that moved the company into the elevator business.
H&B was recently sold to an undisclosed company and is operating under a different name, said Sand. A representative from H&B could not be reached for comment.
