NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Eastside Food Co-op shows American Harvest July 19

American Harvest is a powerful, riveting, politically charged documentary bound to inspire some, infuriate others, and inevitably engender discussion in a time when the plight of migrant laborers is on everyone’s agenda and every politician’s portfolio.. The film portrays the truth about agriculture and migrant labor in the United States in the harsh light of today’s environment.

In a series of candid interviews with farmers and farmworkers from Florida to Maine the film depicts the facts and dispels the myths connected with migrant farmworkers. The message throughout the film is that the migrant reality cannot be ignored.

Eastside Food Co-op is featuring American Harvest at its July Movie Night. It’s Thursday, July 19, 2012, 7:00-9:00 pm at the Co-op, 2551 Central Avenue Northeast.

Free and open. Parking adjacent to the building. Free refreshments.

Great preparation for viewing the film is to check the American Harvest website, a site replete with stories, photos, testimonies and comments from a host of individuals involved with the film and with the issues of the migrant labor situation.
