NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Crime, art and more at Collecting Evidence exhibiti exhibit in Northeast Minneapolis
“Collecting Evidence” is a broad category and an appropriate title for a broadly constructed exhibit which opened July 5 at Altered Esthetics, 1224 Quincy Street NE in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Area.
The exhibit offers an examination, documentation and investigation of “traces left behind” – archaeological sites, dilapidated buildings, crime scenes and more. The planners promise that visitors to the exhibit will “find out more about the story behind the works…though in many cases the full story is yet to be discovered.
Show dates are July 5-26. Participating artists will be on hand to discuss their works and their ideas on Saturday, July 21, 1:00-3:00p.m.
Altered Esthetics is a nonprofit community gallery run by artists and for artists. Its purpose is to bring together dimensional art, music, poetry, performance art and film. By custom Altered Esthetics holds group shows so that multiple artists of all backgrounds can display their perspectives on a given theme.
