STYLE | Vita.mn Poolside Fashion Show 2012 in review
With temperatures in the 80s, the sun shining and a cool breeze off of Lake Calhoun, it was the perfect setting for the sixth annual Vita.mn Poolside Fashion Show. Thursday night’s show featured 45 hot summer looks in daywear, eveningwear and swimwear, divided into three segments throughout the evening.

Hosted by the ever-entertaining Carly Aplin and Jonathan Rabb of The CW Twin Cities. The night jump started with a social hour and DJ set by Jonathan Ackerman, followed up with a two-part fashion show on the Calhoun Beach Club poolside deck. The evening then wrapped up with the third show, inside CBC solarium including delicious catering by D’Amico and an afterparty to finish off the stylish event. Fashions were shown from local boutiques including favorites Blacklist Vintage, Bumbershute, Cliché, Covered, martinpatrick3 and Nani Nalu as well as several Mall of America retailers such as Bettie Page, Cotton On, Desigual, and Lola. The event was once again styled by Vita.mn contributor Jahna Peloquin (also l’étoile’s Editor-in-Chief) with models from Vision and hair and makeup courtesy of Jungle Red.
Taking inspiration from the French Riviera, Brazilian theme – a nod to bossa nova band Buffalo Moon, which performed throughout the evening – the show evoked a mix of cultures, mixing high style with exotic glamour and a touch of ’50s Hollywood. Summer trends popped up throughout, including sheer dresses, lively prints, high-waisted skirts, crop tops, and eclectic, exotic prints. It was a most appropriate way to welcome the recent rise of temps against the backdrop of the always elegant and stylish Calhoun Beach Club’s rooftop pool deck. Summer 2012, here we come.
