E-DEMOCRACY | What's the best cafe in St. Paul with wi-fi and tables for group work?

February 17, 2012

Congrats to E-Democracy and Steve Clift on this fantastic grant to expand neighborhood forums with a focus on diversity and inclusion!

As for coffee shops with wifi, I also always make a point of paying for my "fair share" of space and time, and if I’m meeting with others, make clear that they are to do the same. And if there's some special circumstance (longer duration, larger numbers, with some regularity, involving students, or whatever) that might affect other customers or the total bill compared to use, I ask permission of the owner/manager before making the arrangements. Some are able to accommodate but others aren't, and I respect their decision.

Some places I’ve been to in the last several months that I’m pretty sure have wifi include the following:

J <http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=j%26s%20coffee%20st%20paul&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDAQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jsbeanfactory.com%2F&ei=ez48T63KD8iugQekz-iZCw&usg=AFQjCNGyeNLx1EtfH2eC-wY4svEJ8fkdVw&cad=rja> &S Beanery on Randolph and another on Minnehaha

Quixotic <http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=white%20rock%20coffee%20st%20paul&source=web&cd=2&sqi=2&ved=0CDkQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quixoticcoffee.com%2F&ei=Jz48T9TPNcru2gWT_aX0Bg&usg=AFQjCNG9LRmM0vCMTFymTqXplOgX0F0erQ&cad=rja> Coffee in Highland (formerly White Rock)

As others have noted, libraries are a good choice, especially the Rondo Community Library <http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=rondo%20community%20library%20&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sppl.org%2Fabout%2Flocations%2Frondo&ei=8T88T-ytL8vgggfYyPWYCw&usg=AFQjCNEHWpOn_YOM9xCgzz3kMeJCjgI1pA&cad=rja> at Dale and University

Mad Hatter <http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=mad%20hatter%20tea%20room&source=web&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CDIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmadhattertearoom.com%2F&ei=EEA8T7mdA6aM2gXn-tHyBg&usg=AFQjCNFosN5vqCqqL4LBLzP4CRKyM283bQ&cad=rja> Tea and Coffee on W 7th (has a big space available by arrangement)

Black Bear Crossing <http://blackbearcrossings.com/community_meeting.html> in the Como Pavilion (community rooms specifically for neighborhood groups; free; they make clear you can’t bring your own food, and theirs is GREAT)

Cahoots <http://twincities.citysearch.com/profile/map/5521397/st_paul_mn/cahoots_coffee_bar.html> on Selby just east of Snelling

Claddagh <http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=claddagh%20coffee%2C%20459%20west%207th%20street%2C%20saint%20paul%2C%20mn%2055102&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CDgQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claddaghcoffeecafe.com%2Fcontact.html&ei=SEA8T6bnB8mRgwfhqZyZCw&usg=AFQjCNEEM7BTJQb> Coffee on W 7th

Espresso Royale <http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/29/330394/restaurant/Twin-Cities/Merriam-Park-Highland-Park/Espresso-Royale-St-Paul> (formerly Brewberries), on Fairview and Randolph

Uh…I think I need a coffee before I can generate any more ideas…!
