11 am — The Spirit of the Blues, Galaxie Library, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley
Celebrate Black History Month as KFAI’s Lady Griot uses storytelling and live music to show the roots blues have in the music brought with the slaves from their homeland. Hear the spiritual side of this tribal music and how it relates to the 12-bar blues.

7-9 pm — Ignite the Spirit of Love with J.D. Steele, Ted Mann Concert Hall, Univ. of MN West Bank, 2128 4th St. S., Minneapolis
Singers in Accord is collaborating with J.D. Steele and the MacPhail Community Youth Choir and Suzuki String Ensemble for a special benefit concert for Twin Cities-based Partnership Resources, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides day services and job training for adults with disabilities.

With special guests Fred Steele and Robert Robinson and performers from PRI’s ”Born for the Stage” program

African American Family Involvement Day, Green Central Community School, 324 E. 35th St., and Broadway High School @ Longfellow, 3017 E. 31st St., Minneapolis
At Green Central, school alumni will be on site and visiting the classes from 11am — 1:30 pm. An assembly will be held from 1:30-2:30 pm.
At Broadway High School @ Longfellow, there will be performances by students and staff, including poetry/spoken word readings and singing, from 12:05-2 pm.

7-7:45 pm — Brodini Comedy Magic Show, Wentworth Library, 199 E. Wentworth Ave., West St. Paul
Celebrate Black History Month with family-friendly magic and comedy. Brodini will share a short history of magic and his experience as an African American magician.

7:30 pm (Mon.) & 11 am (Tues.) — Annual Multicultural Lectures, Bigelow Chapel, United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, 3000 5th St. NW, New Brighton
Bishop Yvette Flunder, presiding bishop of The Fellowship, a multi-denominational fellowship of 110 primarily African American Christian leaders and laity, speaks on “Church as Usual or Church Unusual? Answering the Prophetic Call.”
