NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Northeast Hub meet-and-greets
The seed catalogs are gathering, the sun is shining and the moist soil beckons every green thumber to start digging in. Representatives of the Northeast and Southeast neighborhoods involved in Local Food Resource Hubs rise to the season with a couple of meet and greet sessions designed to teach and share the basics while keeping the lid on eager gardeners’ pre-thaw energies.
The sessions will be held Saturday, February 25, 10 a.m. to Noon at University Lutheran Church of Hope in Dinkytown, 601 13th Avenue SE, and Monday, February 27, 5-7 p.m. at Little Kitchen Food shelf at the Northeast Community Lutheran Church, 1500 6th Street.
Members of the Hub are part of a network of gardeners who have access to discounted seeds and seedlings, classes and tools. The Hub brings community members together to grow, eat and preserve food as well as to share, swap and socialize. Membership is offered on a sliding scale; scholarships are available.
