Home improvement talks and South Minneapolis Housing Fair

“Home Improvement: Found Space” is a talk offered at Nokomis Library, 5100 34th Ave. S., Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. South Minneapolis homeowners who would like to get more usable space from a home without expanding its footprint can see how a designer does it. “Before and after case histories will amaze you and start you thinking about the hidden potential of your home,” said Fred Peters of F&P Remodeling by Design, seminar presenter.

March 6, 6:30 p.m., Bob Buck of Buck Brothers Construction will present “When should I contact a contractor?” at the East Lake library, 2727 East Lake Street, for homeowners who want to make changes but are not sure where to begin, or those thinking of tackling a DIY project. Learn how the pieces of the construction puzzle fit together, and how to work with today’s professionals to stretch dollars.

The talks are offered as a warm-up to the South Minneapolis Housing Fair. The Fair, Saturday, March 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. is at South High School, 3131 19th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55407. There, dozens of home improvement professionals, finance people and artisan trades gather under one roof. The popular, free information fair is in its 18th year, a project of several south Minneapolis neighborhood organizations. In addition to exhibits, several workshops will be offered in two sessions that day.
