Pond hockey tournament gets green light
Sanni Brown and Justin Kaufenberg
This week marks the start of the physical set-up preparations for the U.S. Pond Hockey Championship, scheduled to be held January 20th through the 22nd on Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis. The outdoor tournament features play by 250 teams on 25 rinks, drawing over two thousand players from 37 states and several countries.
Warm January temperatures have caused organizers of several winter events to re-consider their plans, but Pond Hockey co-commissioner Justin Kaufenberg told KFAI's Sanni Brown that the ice on Nokomis has been measured and is good enough for preparations to proceed. [Audio below]
