Who will best represent you on the Minneapolis School Board?
A referendum was approved by Minneapolis voters two years ago expanding the Minneapolis Public Schools Board. The election this November 2 will be the first in which the Minneapolis Public School Board will increase from seven at-large seats to nine seats, six of which are elected by districts. There are currently two at-large seats open and four candidates for those seats. Each candidate has given the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder his or her views on issues of particular importance to African Americans. All interviews were conducted and transcribed by Titilayo Bediako.
‘It is time for fresh eyes to come on board’
‘No more business as usual with me on the board’
‘I can reach all areas of this community’
