Nine run for Minneapolis Park Board with AFL-CIO support
Nine candidates are running for Minneapolis Park Board with the endorsement of the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO.
Six of the candidates are running to represent the six district seats on the board.
Three of the AFL-CIO endorsed candidates are running city-wide for the three at-large seats on the board. They include:
- Incumbent Mary Merrill Anderson, first elected in 2005, also DFL-endorsed;
- Incumbent Tom Nordyke, first elected in 2005, also DFL-endorsed;
- Former at-large Park Board commissioner John Erwin, seeking to return to the Park Board, also DFL-endorsed.
The six AFL-CIO endorsed candidates running to represent the city's six Park Board districts include:
- Liz Wielinski, a first-time candidate, also DFL-endorsed, running for the District 1 seat to be vacated by the retirement of Walt Dziedzic;
- Incumbent Jon Olson, first elected in 2001, running for re-election in District 2;
- Incumbent Scott Vreeland, first elected in 2005, running for re-election in District 3, also DFL-endorsed;
- Anita Tabb, a first-time candidate, also DFL-endorsed, running unopposed for the District 4 seat to be vacated by the retirement of Tracy Nordstrom;
- Jason Stone, challenging the incumbent in District 5;
- Brad Bourn, a first-time candidate, also DFL-endorsed, running for the District 6 seat left open when the incumbent chose to run at-large.
