Hmong gangs investigated for stealing racing pigeons

Police are investigating local Hmong gangs for alleging stealing racing pigeons.

May 11, 2006
According to reports, the Metro Gang Strike Force is investigating the possibility that Hmong gangs from the Twin Cities are stealing racing pigeons.

More than 600 racing pigeons have been stolen from three men who raise and train the racing pigeons in Minnesota. According to them, the losses have totaled nearly $200,000.

After law enforcement officials found pigeons belonging to one of the men in the basement of a known gang member, the Gang Strike Force was called to investigate.

“Predominantly they were Asian, Hmong and that’s why I’m saying it’s a cultural thing,” Gang Strike Force Commander Ron Ryan explained to reporters on the possibility that the thefts may not be gang-related, but perhaps a broader, cultural problem . “They weren’t always necessarily gang people.”

Investigators believe the stolen pigeons were sold for profit, raced and then possibly eaten.

I found a dead, banded

I found a dead, banded pigeon in my yard and discovered it had been registered to a Yeng Moua of Duluth. Any connection, I wonder?

its to bad when the

its to bad when the reputation of decent hmong are tarnished by a few thugs!

Stupid people always steal

Stupid people always steal pigeons. Forget the cultural bullcrap that the dumb police points out. That's like saying that the damn white folks across the street stole my parents dishes out of the shed so they can obtain more money from their dumb ass garage sales. It's not about nationality, culture, religion, etc. It's about wealth. The damn poor kids who has no money who can't afford a $5 pigeon from the local swap meet has to come around the damn neighborhood and steal pigeons. Not just any pigeons. Racing pigeons. My pigeon has a Type-R sticker on it's wing and has red racing stripes also. Has a V8 inside of its testicles and it's brain is cammed with 280/280s. Damn nuts. Quit pointing out false information if you can't prove it. Assuming is quite different from knowing.

I am completely at awe with

I am completely at awe with Mr. Ron Ryan's comment that stealing is a cultural thing. Every group of people steal. I know tons of Hmong people who do not, eat, nor race pigeons. Please do not incite any more stereotypes...
