Thomas Dale Neighborhood News and Events

Emily Seru is our neighborhood correspondent for the Frogtown/ Thomas-Dale neighborhood in St. Paul, and she wants to hear from you. Tell her about the garage sale, or about the meeting at Rondo Community Library-and ask her how to register and get your profile on TC Daily Planet!

Emily Seru lives in Frogtown, manages internships and community partnerships for HECUA, and is the secretary of the Frogtown Neighborhood Association

Thomas-Dale-frequently referred to as Frogtown-is Saint Paul's most diverse neighborhood. This diversity is reflected not only in our residents who come from every corner of the globe, but in the wonderful shops, restaurants, and services that you will also find here. University Avenue is the major commercial center in the neighborhood, home to about 100 Asian-owned businesses and many others-and it is served by high-frequency and express buses and the forthcoming Central Corridor LRT line. Our modestly-priced homes, strong sense of community, active and engaged residents, and proximity to the State Capital, downtown, and I-94 make Thomas-Dale a great place to call home.

Recession or not, home ownership is still possible for some

Low-income housing has pretty much gone the way of the buffalo. Unless you’re on welfare in a Section 8 apartment, there’s virtually no such thing. Between the ravaged economy and the longstanding evil of predatory lending, low-income home ownership is scarcer still.MORE »
