St. Anthony Park is an urban village situated between the downtowns of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, known for its community activism and strong neighborly bonds. It also enjoys a unique global perspective, thanks in large part to the international students, faculty and families connected to the campuses of the University of Minnesota and Luther Seminary. The community takes special pride in its two public schools, St. Anthony Park Elementary and Murray Junior High, which regularly rank among the top schools in the metro area.

The community is home to a rich collection of educational, religious, social service, arts institutions and the St. Anthony Park Foundation which is the city of St. Paul’s first neighborhood-based charitable foundation.

Neighbors and shoppers from throughout the Twin Cities can take advantage of two vibrant business districts, in North St. Anthony Park, near the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul campus, and in South St. Anthony Park, near University Ave. and its thriving art galleries and artists’ studios.

NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Saint Anthony Park considers becoming Transition Town with festival on April 20

No matter the weather, on Saturday, April 20, Saint Paul’s Saint Anthony Park neighborhood will celebrate all things green. SAP is considering becoming a “Transition Town” with a festival -- including kids’ activities, school projects, music, short films, and learning opportunities. A Transition Town is a community that understands that it must create less a fossil-fueled, energy-intensive way of life and at the same time a more stable, satisfying, locally-oriented one. Several working interest groups have already started the journey, and Saturday they will hold an expo of new initiatives, inviting discussion and participation.

The way it works: U of M students (or whomever) submit "admirations" anonymously via a Google form, and an administrator of the Facebook page posts them for all to see. Here are some of the best posted recently.
