St Anthony East Neighborhood News and Events

For a small neighborhood Saint Anthony East has access to a large amount of public space, including Community Commons Park, Logan Park, and St. Anthony Park. We have convenient public transportation as the number 10 busline runs along our eastern edge on Central Avenue, route 17 runs through the middle of the neighborhood on Monroe St., and we are within a short walk from many others.

In addition to easy public and auto transportation, the 3rd Avenue Bikeway runs near our southern border, connecting to the Boom Island Park Trails, Father Hennepin Bluffs Trail, Heritage Trail, and the soon to be built 5th Street bikeway. While no longer used as a school, the Webster School facility is used for neighborhood meetings, hosts community events, and continues to be a wonderful resource for the neighborhood.

We were both sitting in at Sol Testimony's Soul Jam open mic and, unluckily enough, I happened to go on directly before K Jay. Whereupon he spent a good half his set roasting me like Sunday dinner. To make bad matters worse, he was so funny at it that I couldn't get offended. I was too busy howling in hysterics. Still, I made a mental note to never go on and sing ahead of that guy taking the stage anywhere ever again in life.

Fancy Ray McCloney, a "human chocolate orchid," spreads his roots

Generally, it's hard to admire a fellow who makes a constant show of admiring himself.  That charming narcissist Fancy Ray "The Best Lookin' Man In Comedy" McCloney, though, is a wondrously hysterical exception to the rule. He's crazy about himself with such unabashed, disarming glee that audiences, indeed, are crazy about him.
