NDAA opponents search for next phase of protest
Approximately 70 people representing various activist groups in Minnesota rallied on Friday, February 3rd to protest the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA. The act, passed by congress and signed by President Obama, includes provisions that allow for the seizure and indefinite holding, without trial, of American citizens suspected of terrorist activities.MORE »

Fire and Ice coming to Prospect Park February 4

Inside the maker movement
Just as open-source software has changed the course of technology development, the maker-movement is central to sharing ideas in the same way beyond just computers.
TC Maker is a "hacker-space" in Minneapolis which hosts a monthly night of sharing, learning, and making. At a recent visit we saw everything from a handmade trebuchet, to a programmed LED light system, to a computer controlled router for wood working.
The good hackers
To "hack" is to deconstruct, figure out, and reinvent. While most associate the term with computers, hacking has much broader applications for engineers and programmers in a wide array of industries.MORE »
