Railroad bridge: slow progress
Minneapolis city officials say they’re still hopeful that their plan to remove the 1925-vintage St. Anthony Parkway bridge over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad yard, and replace it with a new bridge, will pass historic-preservation tests and proceed to design and construction phases. The Salvation Army’s proposal to move its Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) from downtown Minneapolis to the former Despatch/ ZipSort Mailing building at Marshall Street and St. Anthony Parkway NE got a "thumbs down" from the Minneapolis City Planning Commission Oct. 3, even though Minneapolis planning staff had recommended that the project be approved.MORE »
