Even if they don’t practice free love, Two Harbors artists Dick and Debbie Cooper are still hippies at heart: the 60s survivors practice what they describe as “functional folk art” using sustainable, close-to-Gaia materials.

Dick, a potter, toasts his bowls in a 125-cubic-foot kiln that he says, in a press release, he considers “a partner in the work.” Debbie, a weaver, recycles clothing into rugs that are “decorative and functional.”

The two will be featured in a joint exhibition at the Raymond Avenue Gallery from February 15 through March 22. On opening night from 6:00-8:00, they will appear at a reception to talk about their work and life.

Coverage of issues and events affecting Central Corridor communities is funded in part by a grant from the Central Corridor Funders Collaborative.
