Eco Energy biomass project

Dear Mary,

I’m very happy about your coverage of the proposed Eco Energy biomass facility. I am the mother of a ten month old baby girl who lives in the neighborhood and obviously concerned about any further environmental stress in the Lake and Hiawatha area. I have exchanged e-mails with Gary Schiff, discussed the issue with the MPCA and EQB and have an upcoming telephone meeting with Senator Torres Ray. I think this is an extraordinarily important issue for our community.

Many of my neighbors are concerned and like myself are trying to gather as much information as possible. We all hope that you continue to pursue this story. A couple of things we are interested in are the financial or business relationships that current city council members or other government or former government employees have in this project. We are also interested in hearing about whether other local community businesses or organizations have voiced opinions about the project. In particular I am wondering whether you have contacted any of the physicians or management at Smiley’s University of Minnesota Clinic which is located very close to the proposed site?
