The mounted police got in front of the buses and moved forward to clear the street. Three other demonstrators pulled some garbage bins intor the street and dumped them in front of the bus.

The mounted police regrouped and stood directly in front of the demonstrators. At this point, some buses started to leave, coming north on Kellogg from behind the gated fence.

When confronted with a line of mounted police on one side of the boulevard, the demonstrators ran around the police and spilled objects such as waste cans and newspaper racks on the street.

Kellogg Boulevard is reserved for use by buses delivering and retrievingdelegates to the convention. It is bisected by concrete barriers, chain link fence, and barb wire. Drivers who go down the rght side of the road are shunted onto 35E unless they turn right onto College Avenue or Mulberry Street. Pedestrians cannot get through and are shunted onto a promenade along 35E.
