Director: BRUCE MCDONALD

Cult director Bruce McDonald’s (Hard Core Logo, Roadkill, Highway 61) latest feature, an exhilarating experiment in narrative style, earned six Canadian Genie award nominations.

Juno’s Ellen Page stars as Tracey, a troubled high school student harboring an abiding hatred for her parents, her classmates and the world in general. Her time is divided between avoiding her low-life parents, lusting after a glam-styled new boy in school (rocker Slim Twig) and searching for her long-missing little brother. McDonald captures the Tracey’s directionless rage with innovative split screen techniques, fractured, non-linear storytelling and an old school punk and glam soundtrack. “McDonald’s latest is his most ambitious attempt to carve up the cinematic frame and give a head-butt to conventions.” – Eye Weekly Toronto

That’s an interesting observation, coming from a graduate of a law school that once lost its American Bar Association accreditation. MORE »
