Transatlantic Love Affair presents "Red Resurrected"

Illusion Theater's presentation of Transatlantic Love Affair's ensemble performance, Ballad of the Pale Fisherman won a 2012 Ivey Award. Director, Isabel Nelson, won the Ivey's Emerging Artist Award. In August, Ash Land, TLA's re-imagining of the Cinderella story was one of the most sought after tickets at the Minnesota Fringe Festival.
Now back at Illusion Theater, TLA tells Red Resurrected, a dark re-imagining of the Red Riding Hood story woven together with elements of the Greek myth Persephone and the Mexican folklore story of La Loba. Red Resurrected is set in the landscape of America's Appalachia, with the traditional music of shape note singing as its underscore. The story is as mysterious as the forest it inhabits, as ominous, and as inspiring. At its heart is the story of a young woman's departure from her community, her journey into the wilderness, and what she finds there.

Illusion Theater was founded in 1974 and presents its season on the 8th floor of the Hennepin Center for the Arts in downtown Minneapolis. Since the beginning, Producing Directors Michael Robins and Bonnie Morris have led Illusion Theater in illuminating the illusions, myths, and realities of our times and in using the power of theater to catalyze personal and social change. In thirty-five years, Illusion has generated over 500 plays, developed thousands of artists, and created ground-breaking educational works. Plays developed at Illusion have been produced in theaters throughout the world. Illusion's work has catalyzed conversations in living rooms, kitchens, coffee houses, and board rooms, and has led to transformations in policy, in organizations, in students, and in individuals.
