Opening Reception: Art in the Everyday: Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater Retrospective

02/09/2013 - 7:00pm - 10:00pm

On Saturday, February 9, 2013, the Anita Sue Kolman Galley in collaboration with the Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater (SPDT) will host an opening reception for “Art in the Everyday,” a retrospective exhibit showcasing objects from SPDT’s 34-year history. The reception will include an interactive performance piece performed by SPDT company members and a discussion with Stuart Pimsler and Suzanne Costello, Artistic Co-Directors of Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater. The reception is free and open to the public.

The exhibit will run through Saturday, March 9, 2013 and will feature scenic art by Ronald Aiji Kajiwara, former design director for “Vogue Magazine,” costumes by Sonya Berlovitz, and other artists who have collaborated with SPDT throughout its 34-year history.  The objects create a distinctive performance aesthetic that examines concepts of love, loss, and longing in the world around us, often through the use of everyday objects in the stage work.
