League of Women Voters Minneapolis Education Forum, Education Reform in Minneapolis Schools

How do schools districts measure effective teaching? Where do our school districts find these effective teachers and principals? This forum will focus on teacher and educator pipelines: efforts to elevate the profession and support teachers and principals.
Sandra Vargas, President and CEO of The Minneapolis Foundation, will make opening remarks. Other speakers will be:
Vallay Varro, Executive Director of MinnCAN, which supports recent legislative reform efforts
Susan Heegard, Vice President Education Achievement at the Bush Foundation, will speak about the Foundation’s 10 year commitment to coordination of our state’s training of teachers and principals with the needs of our K-12 school districts.
Nate Eklund, Eklund Consulting, will speak about his group’s efforts at the school level to support teachers and principals by creating humane environments where adults and students can do their best work. 
Louise Sundin, Minneapolis Federation of Teachers, President Emeritus, will speak about  reform efforts and the impact on teachers and the learning environment.
