TCDP TOP PICK | Fifty Shades of White: A Minnesota XXXmas
TCDP TOP PICK: The Brave New Workshop's annual seasonal show is this year titled Fifty Shades of White: A Minnesota XXXmas. Unlike their seasonal shows for the past few years, this is all new material. Many of the skits, with an emphasis on the naughty side of Christmas, are high-energy and hilarious—but I did miss the usual rendition of "The 12 Days of Christmas" that was always the highlight of past seasonal shows. Although a few skits go on too long, this is otherwise a consistently hilarious show. - Read the complete review by Bev Wolfe
The cast of the Brave New Workshop Theatre mixes Minnesota Nice with a little bit of naughty for BNW’s annual holiday show! From baked hams to the headaches of gift-giving, “Fifty Shades of White” is full of hilarious original sketches and songs that promise to relieve your SAD (Seasonal Annoyance Disorder).
While other theatrical holiday traditions might include the likes of “The Christmas Carol” or “The Nutcracker,” those preferring less traditional belly laughs and a more satirical look at the holidays have made the BNW holiday show an annual must-see tradition. To many in the Twin Cities and beyond, it wouldn’t be winter in Minnesota without BNW’s sharp, funny take on the holiday season and all of its traditions, both pleasant and punishing.
