Event Description:

Historic Saint Paul and the Payne Phalen District Five Planning Council will present Free Design Saturday on June 14th at the Saint Paul Police Department Eastern District Community Room (722 Payne Avenue).

The Payne Phalen neighborhood is home to a rich collection of architectural styles: Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Victorian, Prairie Style and Vernacular. Which style does your home exemplify? How might you restore and enhance your home’s original architectural features? To find out, bring a photo* of your home to Free Design Saturday!

At the open house event, architects from Historic Saint Paul will be on hand to discuss the unique features of your home and sketch ideas for historically sensitive exterior improvements. You can also learn about financial and technical assistance available through the Restore Saint Paul program to help homeowners in Payne Phalen restore their older homes. Please join us for this fun event! Click here to download an invitation.

*Please bring a large photograph (8” x 10” is ideal) as larger photos are easier to view and sketch.

Mr. President-elect, because you were elected on the hope for change, I ask you to seek advice from a wide variety of people, to look to people who have experience as well as to new voices outside of Washington and outside of the corporate establishment. MORE »

THEATER | "White Sheep of the Family," a sharp farce at Theatre in the Round

You’re not going to find a stronger theater company in the Twin Cities than the Theatre in the Round Players, and they’ve done it again, mounting yet anotther first-rate production. The White Sheep of the Family, by L. du Garde Peach and Ian Hay, is a splendidly written, sharply directed, beautifully acted farce you’re going to rush home and tell family, friends—pretty much anyone who’ll listen—all about.
