Hands On Twin Cities Day

Start: Jun 21 2008 - 9:00 am
End: Jun 21 2008 - 1:00 pm

Imagine…from across the Twin Cities individuals, families, neighborhood groups, service organizations, faith-based groups, corporations, and community leaders come together to help enhance the quality of life in the Twin Cities Metro Area.

This is Hands On Twin Cities Day, our annual Serve-a-thon – a special event combining service and fundraising to benefit the community and help raise funds for Hands On Twin Cities programs.

Like the popular “walk-a-thons,” volunteers at Hands On Twin Cities Day raise pledges ($25 minimum) which help fund meaningful volunteer service opportunities throughout the year. Unlike “walk-a-thons,” our volunteers are engaged in meaningful volunteer projects themselves!

Project #1: Yard Cleanup for Seniors
Help seniors remain in their homes by providing maintenance services such as lawn care, window washing, and minor home repairs.

Project #2: Indian Mounds Park Cleanup
Haul buckthorn from Indian Mounds Park and learn about this beautiful area of St. Paul! This is a physically active volunteer opportunity.

Project #3: Storm Drain Stenciling
Using paint and stencils, mark storm drains with the message, “Please Don’t Pollute! Drains to Mississippi River!” and distribute educational door hangers to homes and businesses. (Shifts for this project are 8:00a.m. to 10:30a.m. and 11:00a.m. to 1:30p.m.)
