School to Prision Pipeline: conference

“Students with Disabilities in the School to Prison Pipeline: Issues, Ideas and a Call to Action.”

Keynote Speaker, Professor Joseph Tulman
Professor Tulman directs the Juvenile and Special Education Law Clinic at the University of the District of Columbia School of Law. He has pioneered the use of special education advocacy for children in the neglect and delinquency systems.

Schedule of Events
In addition to the keynote address, the conference will also feature a moving story from a young man who has been through the “pipeline”, and a panel discussion with representatives from special education, law enforcement, the judiciary and corrections. Afternoon activities include break out sessions with Professor Tulman, behavioral psychiatrist Dr. William Dikel, systems change expert Dr. Richard Amado, advocacy experts and others in settings that will enable participants to identify resources and practical approaches that they can use in their work. The conference will highlight models in Minnesota that are promising responses to the complex issues raised in ending the school to prison pipeline.

Cost: $35.00 for Students and parents; $75.00 for professionals

Continuing Legal Education credit, Continuing Education Credit and Administrative Clock hours are being applied for.
