Renewal
Gallery 122 at Hang It presents a showing of new works by artists Jeff Baker and Kari Reardon. “reNEWal” will run from May 16 through June 27, with an artist reception held on May 16, from 7-10 PM. The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public.
Jeff Baker is a photographer from Rochester, MN. Baker captures distinctive images of people, landscapes, and unique objects that he encounters while aimlessly roaming the country both near and far. The treatments for each piece are determined individually and range from stark black and white to vibrant color. Receiving much recognition for his work in the last couple of years, Baker was most recently awarded honorable mention at the Minnesota State Fair in ’07.
Kari Reardon is a sculptor from Minneapolis, MN. Her work is built primarily with scavenged building materials including steel, stone, and concrete. The juxtaposition of hard materials with fluid, organic forms is fundamental to her style. Using clusters and repetition she creates a sense of movement and growth by which her objects acquire personalities and history. Her work has been shown in galleries throughout the US and Europe. She has received numerous awards and grants including a recent fellowship from La Vie Des Formes to create and exhibit work in France.
In their show for Gallery 122, both Baker and Reardon will exhibit an eclectic mix of art that will capture your eye and free your imagination. Baker will lead you through a series of photographs that will show you the beauty and uniqueness of our surroundings while allowing subsurface themes to rise. Reardon will exhibit a series of sculptures inspired by arthropods and sea creatures. These tactile creations will take you into a new land as they weave in and out of the gallery. Join Gallery 122 in this unique opportunity to experience the works (and worlds) of both Jeff Baker and Kari Reardon.
