Redistricting – Minnesotans' next challenge: not just for insiders anymore

I have to admit, I have a certain level of respect for Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn. Oh, don’t misunderstand me, if she’s elected president, I will flee the country, the continent, and if possible, the planet. I continue to despair that she’s an actual member of Congress, and I weep that she’s a representative from my state, even if she does represent the 6th.

Netroots Nation: the discontent over the disconnect

I had a blast at Netroots Nation 2011.  I met many bloggers, activists, staffers and several celebrities.  I made a ton of connections.  However, throughout the conference, there was a current of discontent which was often the topic of discussion at parties, before and after panels and in the hallways of the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Trapped by the past

National and state media have been uniformly critical of Governor Pawlenty’s failure to confront Governor Romney on health care in last Monday’s debate.  Well, make room for a dissent.  I would contend that Pawlenty had no choice but to avoid any mention critical of Romney’s Massachusetts plan.

Who won the debate last night? Bachmann and Romney emerged as winners in very odd ways. Bachmann won but not really on substance. She won by her announcement that she was officially running for president. Her announcement was brilliant in the sense that she knew it would be the major news or headline item the next day.
