Election 2009 St. Paul

The mayoral and school board elections are the big elections in St. Paul this November, with three of the six school board members up for re-election, or not. In addition, a special election will fill the seat left vacant when Tom Conlon moved out of state this summer.

St. Paul also will vote on whether to adopt Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), aka Instant Runoff Voting (IRV), for municipal elections. Across the river, Minneapolis will be using RCVfor the first time in November.

St. Paul School Board elections have real contest this year

The St. Paul school district, the state's second-largest in terms of student population, has four seats to be decided. There are three incumbent positions with 4-year terms and one 2-year open seat up for a special election to finish the term of Tom Conlon, who has stepped down.  Six candidates are competing for the three incumbent seats, two candidates are vying for Conlon's position.
