The Irony of Alien Invasions

Reading about Asian carp tends to make one nervous.  But I couldn't help sensing irony in it.  Do you suppose the indigenous nations of America had t he same feeling as they watched Europeans approach?  They had their "environment" too, and as our ancestors approached, weren't they being destructive to that environment.  So I guess our anxiety at the unstoppable carp invasion gives us a chance to "walk in another man's shoes".  From what I hear, the carp are descendants of some people's attempt to make money by fish farming.  They didn't just swim the Pacific Ocean and the Panama Canal to get to the Mississippi River.
