What better way to commemorate our presidents than with a walk through the neighborhood that marks many of their names? The second annual Presidents' Day Walk will step off at the Firefighters Hall and Museum, 664 22nd Ave. NE on Saturday, February 13 at 10 a.m.

GROWTH & JUSTICE | From MEED to SEED, a Minnesota idea by Matt Kane and Dane Smith • President Franklin D. Roosevelt during the depths of the Great Depression tirelessly pushed for innovation, saying: "It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. THE BLOG COLU.MN | Pelosi, Reed non-committal on Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal by James Sanna • Forget that Tuesday's Don't Ask, Don't Tell hearings blew the "we need to hear from the military" argument out of the water.
MENNONISTA | Adventure to Obama's White House, part 3 by Steve Clemens • I don't remember much about stop #2 except that we get nothing to eat or drink other than the "faucet" on the back of our holding cell's stainless steel toilet/sink combo. We are "patted down" once again and placed in a holding area with not enough concrete seats or benches so some must sit on the concrete floor, maybe with a cinder block wall to lean on if the room is not too full. Men are called in and out, occasionally reporting to us what time it is if an officer tells them or they see a clock.
