Taking some time
To my loyal readers,
I've always considered myself blessed for the good fortune that's been given to me, even in spite of the hardships I've had to endure along the way. That being said, life still isn't perfume and roses, and in the last little while I've had more challenges I've had to rise to, with my other jobs, my family here, my family abroad, and the situation of my brothers and sisters still in Somalia.
In light of all of this, I've decided to take a short break from Ask A Somali. Every challenge is a chance for inspiration, and I hope to be back with fresh ideas before too long, and not leave you hanging. In the meantime my email still works, so if you have anything on your mind feel free to send it my way.
This column has been an incredible experience for me, and I know it's had an effect on a lot of you, too. I hope to continue to have an effect on you for a long time to come.
Inshallah I'll be back before you have a chance to miss me.

Fun and Creative Column
Your refreshing, honest, creative, and fun column will be missed; but as a writer myself, I can understand needing a break. I look forward to your return!
best wishes and look forward to your return
I hope your departure doesnt reflect and editorial changes, pressures for your sometimes daring opinions, or serious life misfortune on your part but rather merely a little rest. I hope you will come back. I so respect your writing and independence. You have shown me that Minneapolis Somali are not all of the very conservative, rigid bent---though I must say I have met so many that are that way in the Twin Cities , particularily in Somali leadership positions, especially in the schools. When I was Living in Seattle, I found Somali there far more liberal and tolerant---your espousal of open-mindedness, tolerance, thinking, and the reminder that pluralism among Somali exists here too has moved me to open my eyes. I have learned a lot, thank you. Be well and I look forward to your return.
Not an Editorial Change
I can assure you that Ifrah's decision to take a break from her column is entirely a personal choice and was not the result of any editorial policy change. We value Ifrah's column, and look forward to her return when her personal circumstances permit.
